Engineering
Rubber is a very versatile material, for the right application a lot of knowledge is needed. Sealution has the specific knowledge to deal with your sealing problem. In order to come to the optimal sealing solution we go through a structured design process, consisting of the following phases:
- Exploration / Survey
- Concept design
- Detail design
Exploration / Survey
In the survey phase we want to get a clear picture of the seal desired, the application and the assembly. We investigate how the seals are used in practice, which aspects are important and what the advantages and disadvantages of any existing seals are. During this exploration the first ideas are put on paper in order to gain insight into the situation at hand. We present the research results to our customer in order to determine the product properties desired.
Concept design
In the concept design phase, ideas are initially devised for all the important partial aspects of the desired seal. Ideas in the areas of design, ergonomics, functionality, construction, production, maintenance, installation, assembly, etc. These ideas are combined into a number of complete sealing concepts. In consultation with our customer, a direction is then chosen and a concept design for the sealing solution is put together. Cost price and investment estimates of this concept are made and presented to our customer.
Detailed design
In the detailed design phase, the concept design is worked out in detail. Using CAD software, the main shape, shape detailing and construction are recorded in a 3D model. Material, production technique, and dimensioning of all parts are determined in cooperation with suppliers. The cost price estimates of the sealing solution are kept up to date and are regularly evaluated to see if we still meet the requirements and expectations previously set. Subsequently, a 2D technical drawing package is derived from the 3D model in which the dimensions and specifications of the sealing solution (subassemblies & parts) are described. With this package, after going through a structured realization process, the final design is produced.
