At Sealution we see that many industries are doing their utmost to contribute to the realisation of the ambitious international climate targets. The transition from fossil fuels to biofuels is an essential part of this. Biofuel systems, which are used at filling stations, refineries, in shipping and in the car industry, contain various rubber seals that have to meet specific chemical resistance and quality requirements. Naturally, such sealing materials must also be environmentally friendly. With NBR 70 (Nitrile) and FKM 70 (Viton®) we have developed two innovative materials that have a distinctive chemical resistance to biofuels. In addition to a variety of materials with the same resistance claim, we have also extensively tested these in the test fluid FAM-B.
Product specifications
When we talk about the innovative sealing materials developed by Sealution for application in biofuel systems, we are talking about:
- NBR 70 black with the compound code: 1417010802 (Nitrile)
- FKM 70 red with the compound code: 602709200 (Viton®)
Viton® is a registered trademark of Dupont.
Durable leak-proof
These materials are used in petrol (E10) and diesel oil systems (B10). It is a requirement that these systems can function sustainably and therefore leak-free. The sealing materials of Sealution meet these strict requirements, not only now but also in the long term. We can guarantee this through their distinctive technical properties and chemical resistance. The durable chemical resistance against E10, B10 and FAM-B is shown by, among other things:
- Slight decrease in hardness in the application
- Slight increase in volume in the application
- Low temperature resistance down to -40⁰C
- Other distinctive good material properties
Look and compare
Sealution has extensively tested both materials and compared the test results with materials of which the producer makes the same claim. In the graphs below, two other materials are compared with our NBR70 and FKM 70. This comparison underlines the distinctive and innovative qualities of the sealing materials we develop.
Together we achieve the best seal
The test results speak for themselves. The development of both these sealing materials is extremely suitable for a sustainable application in biofuel installations.
